A useful first note
Five details that make the first reply useful.
None are required to start the conversation. They help Jonathan define the pilot sample and explain what must be confirmed before records move.
- i.Number of accounts in the batch (bank, credit card, brokerage).
- ii.Months covered, roughly. "Three accounts, about two years" is plenty.
- iii.Digital or scanned. Scans are welcome; knowing the mix sets the estimate.
- iv.The output you want: Excel/CSV schedule, Quicken/QIF, or both.
- v.Your deadline, if there is one. Rush availability is confirmed only after the files and scope are reviewed.
Help
Common questions, answered plainly.
How is confidentiality handled?
An NDA can be signed before sensitive records change hands, and redacted samples are welcome whenever the matter allows them. The transfer method and document-retention instructions are confirmed in writing before files are requested.
Please do not attach bank statements or other sensitive records to an initial inquiry.
The practice prepares data only, so it never appears in your case as an expert or opinion-giver, and your engagement's independence stays intact.
What files can you work from?
Bank and credit-card statements as PDFs, whether digitally generated or scanned. Imperfect scans, odd layouts, and older statements can be reviewed. Brokerage statements and unfamiliar formats require a sample review before they are included in a quote.
What exactly comes back?
Four things: a transaction schedule (clean CSV or Excel, one row per transaction), Quicken/QIF import files when the workflow uses them, an exception schedule listing every entry that could not be resolved with certainty, and a reconciliation summary documenting the checks performed against the statements.
Nothing is silently guessed. If an item is uncertain, it is flagged, not buried.
How fast is turnaround?
The delivery schedule is confirmed after the sample files, file quality, output, and scope are reviewed. Larger projects receive a separate written schedule before work begins. Rush availability is never assumed.
How does the pilot engagement work?
Every new relationship starts with a written sample boundary. The standard fixed ninety-dollar pilot covers one account, up to three monthly statements, approximately 300 transactions, one agreed output format, and one correction round. A different boundary must be approved in writing. Agreement terms and a secure-transfer method are confirmed before unredacted records move. The larger project receives a fixed quote only after the pilot establishes the file quality and expected workload.
How is ongoing work priced?
Ongoing work is quoted by batch after a sample review. The quote considers statement volume, scan quality, requested output, and deadline. Large projects may qualify for volume pricing when the sample shows repeatable formats and an efficient workflow. A written price and schedule always precede the work.
What does the practice not do?
Accounting opinions, legal conclusions, tax advice, investment or lending advice, forensic findings, valuation conclusions, expert testimony, or other professional judgments. Those remain entirely with your team. The service ends where judgment begins: you receive reviewed, reconciled, well-documented data and take it from there.
How is the work handled?
Engagements remain under the direct control of Troppe Financial Data Services. Work is not passed to offshore data-entry shops or anonymous labor pools, and questions are handled directly through the practice.
